METEOROLOGICAL RECORD.

The following observations have been taken at the School of Agriculture, Lincoln, self-registering instruments, for previous twenty-four hours ending 9.30 a.m. on :—

The total rainfall was 0.172 in.

An English exchange says:—The sncceu of Raconteur in the Dewhurst Plate at Newmarket sets the seal on St. Simon's success as a sire this season, and places him well ahead of Isonomy. Moreover, the victory of Raconteur, whose stamina seems to be gradually asserting itself, is a remarkable testimony to the value of Flatsanterie, as this famous French mare, par* chased by Sir Tatton Sykes eight years ago, has, by her union with St. Simon, bred two colts, Child wick and Raconteur, whose doings this autumn have been so satisfactory. The. two colts both appear to stay well, and Raconteur has in him the makings of a fine three-year-old, though the Middle Park Plate showed that be is not so good as Whittler and Keelson, neither of whom, unfortunately for their owners, has many three-year-old engagements.
