THE PROPOSED LINWOOD LOAN.
The Linwood Borough Council last night, by six votes to two, rejected Cr. Wilson's £20,000 loan proposal. Cr. Wilson through illness was absent, but ib is doubtfui whether he could have averted the fate which overtook the special Committee's report. The members who opposed the loan did so feeling that they were studying the best interests of the ratepayers. No Councillor denied the necessity of channelling and flushing the borough, aud Cr. Wilson's rejected scheme is likely to form the foundation of one of a less pretentious character.
