THE OLD SHOW GROUNDS.
After negotiations extending over several mouths, the Sydenham Borough Council now seem to be in a fair way towards completing the purchase of the old show grounda for recreation purposes. The Mayor and Mr Murphy on their recent visit to Wellington obtained an undertaking from the Minister for Lintls that au amendment to the Public Reserves Act, 1835, would be introduced into Parliament next session giving power to the Council to charge for the use of the grounds on twenty days iv the year. The Council, at itmeeting last night, appointed a Committee to complete the purchase of the grounds upon the terms made with the Government.
