SENIOR CUP MATCHES.

After an interval of five weeks Senior Cup cricket'was resumed on Saturday. There was only one match in progress—that between the JLP.C.C. and M.C.C.C.—the game between* the U.C.C. and W.C.C. having been finished iv two Saturdays. Very little interest was manifested, for the game was in a very one-sided state, and there were not more than 100 spectators present the whole afternoon. As was expected, the Lancastrians were 'returned easy winners. It is doubtful if there is time for another round to be played, but in any case the United must win the cup, for they are leading by two won games. >» LANCASTER PARK v MIDLAND.

Tiiis game was concluded in fine weather, hnt on a somewhat' bumpy wicket. The Midlanders wilh 140 runs to the bad on the first innings, and with two wickets down for 17 in the second, resumed batting with Micdonald and Lawrence. With the score at 33 the former was taken in the slips, and 9 runs later Barnes was bowled by Cuff. When Ashby joined Lawrence a good stand was made, and notwithstanding changes in the bowling the score was taken to 117 before Lawrence was well caught at deep ,aquare leg. His runs were made in his %Bual free style, and gained him the applause of his comrades when he returned to the pavilion. Ashby was immediately after well caught in the long field after playing a nice free innings of 26. The Midland skipper left without the scores being altered. Two more wickets fell at 129, and as Young, the la3t man, went in, a one inning* victory seemed inevitable. However, chiefly through Barrv'a exertions the score 'was taken to 157, B irry carrying out his bat for a nicely played 18. Wilding was very destructive with the ball, getting all six wickets after lie went on. The fielding 'was fair, and no catches were refused. With 18 to get the Lancastrians lost two wickets before this was accomplished, thus winning the match by eight wickets. The following are the scores: — First innings ... ... ... 178 Second Innings.
