♦ (press association telegrams.) AUCKLAND, February 24. The jubilee of the Manchester Unity Order of Oddfellows waa celebrated to-day by a picnic to Tamaki. The weather prevented a landing at Motutapu. Members came from all parts of the province. An excellent series of sports was provided, and about 5000 persons were present. WELLINGTON, February 24. Mr H. G. Seth Smith, Chief Judge of the Native Land Court, has resigned, and will retire from office at the end of next month. A family bereavement, together with his own impaired eyesight, are believed to be the reasons for his resignation. Mr Smith intends to leave the colony and take up his residence in England. DUNEDIN, February 24. The religious bodies are protesting against by-law No. 2, aa proposed by the City Council, which deals with open-air religious services in the streets.
