The gold returns for the week are tM follows: —Cumberland, 1790z from 75 tons; Hercules, 1440z from 78 tone; Progreen, 1440z from 140 tons; Big River, 1740z from 70 tons; Alpine, Bl2oz from 310 tons. DUNEDIN, February 25. It is reported that very rich gold bearing stone has been discovered by Henry and Purser at Cuttle Cove, Preservation Inlet, Three claims of thirty acres each have already been taken up. The reef is supposed to extend a great di&tance through the country, which is unbroken, in which case it is believed new goldfields will be opened up.
