THE WEATHER AND THE CROPS.
_ m^m Samples of red clover and Timothy grass sft in height, grown by Mr Josiah Hodges on the fiorsford Downs property,-Aahley, were on exhibition on Tuesday at the North Canterbury. Co-operative Stores Company's premises, Rangiora. The samples were taken, from the centre of large paddocks, and attracted a good deal of attention. J Writing last night, our Ashburton correspondent says :—T&ere in nothing special to report to-day in connection with, the harvest beyond the fact that we appear to be in for another two or three days'fine weather, and that with the exception of those instances in which farmers are threshing from the stook, the great bulk of the stuff down on the plains is now safely in stack.
Oar Methveo correspondent writes:—The weather changed for the worse again on Saturday, heavy- showers of rain falling during the afternoon, and the evening being very close and foggy, heavy rain fell during the night. Oα Sunday night a nor'-wester sprang up with heavy showers. Harvest work proceeds but slowly. . There is a great growth of clovtr and grass among the crops this year and the heavy dews at night prevent an early start being made in the mornings. Some crops are mack broken by the late nor'-wester. (PRESS ASSOCIATION IKLWJRAM.) INVERCARGILL, February 13. The weather is cold and showery
