THE OLD SHOW GROUNDS.

The Sydenham Borough Council last night authorised the Mayor (Mr W. Jacques) to proceed to Wellington, if necessary, for the purpose of completing . the proposal for securing the Old Show Grounds for recreation purposes. One of the conditions stipulated for by. the Couucil is that the title of the property, shall be vested in the Borough Council and the ratepayers of the borough far alt time. The dec'siou of the Council was only arrived at on a division, three Councillors desiring that no action be taken by the Council until the long-promised reply h»J been received from the Minister for Llida. It will be remembered that last week the Committee of the Canterbury Agricultural and Pastoral Association decked also to send Mr Murphy to Wellington iv the event of the Sydenham Council sppointing a delegate. It is to be hoped tuti the mission of the two delegates will wardt iv a satisfactory arrangement being come to.
