THE NEW SOUTH WALES MATCH.
THE CANTERBURY TEAM.
Owing to the Trotting Meeting at Ijancaster Park, all Cap inatohes had been declared off last i Saturday. Mr Ollivier took advantage of the opportunity to give the Canterbury team a good afternoon's practice on the College ground, where practice wickets had been prepared. Thanks to a number of club bowlers who kindly gave their services, thirteen players had some thoroughly good batting practice. The wickets were not up to Lancaster Park form, and tried the defensive capabilities of the batsmen to the utmost. Most of the men proved themselves in good form, Cuff, Laurence, Dβ Maus, A. rtidley. Palmer, all showed up well. Labatt is evidently returning to form and batted better than he has done for some time. Wilding wac not ... at his best by. any means-. After the practice was over Mr Ollivier selected the following team :— J. U. Collins, L. A. Cuff, H. DeMaus, A. Harman, A. M. Labatt, J. Laurence, E. V. Palmer, W. Pearce, A. Ridley, VV. Robertson, F. Wilding. The team is the, same as that which played against Auckland. Mr L. Cuff was elected Captain, and it has been arranged to continue practice at Lancaster Park to-night and Tuesday. The services of any bowler who can attend the practices will be much appreciated.
