Wilmot, of the North Canterbury Club, Rftngiora, won the Five Mile Championship ef Auatrakeift. ■September 10. There was * large attendant flit the bicycle sports. Five-mile Championship of Australia. Wilmot, New Zealand ... 1 Kerr, Sydney ... ... 2 Nioklin, Queensland ... 3 Pither, of New Zealand, made the running for the first mile and a naif at a slow pace. At the end of the third mile Wilmot was in the van and the pace warmed up. When the fourth mile was nearly completed Hall, of New^Zealand, took command, bat only for a short space, Hodgkinson deposing him. Hayward, of New Zealand, too, was riding a splendid race. Ab four and a half miles Kerr made a strong dash to the front, but Hodgkinson cut him down. Kerr came again, but entering the last lap Wilmob made hia effort and shot past Kerr, winning by five yard*, amid great cheering. The winner fainted after passing the post. Time, 15min 1 l-sth sec.
