MARKET REPORTS.

GRAIN AND PRODUCE.

Messrs H. Matson akd Co. (associated with the National M. and A. Company of New Zealand, Limited) report for the week ending September 11th, 1893 :— Wheat—There is no change in the wheat market, which remains lifeless -at our last quotations, 2s 6i to 2s 9d. Oats—The outside demand has been limited, but a fair local trade has been passing, and values are unaltered' at 2s to 2s 4d.

Barley—As previously reported, stocks in growers , hands are nearly exhausted, consequently there is little doing beyond seed requirements. Prices are nominally 33 6d to 4s for malting and up to 5s for selected seed samples. . ■ Potatoes—The market remains in about the same state as last week, but a recovery is anticipated shortly. Meantime, 70a to 75s at country stations is the range of value. v Grass Seeds— Ryegrass has again been moving but slowly, and the market ie weak at 3s 6<i to 4s for machine-dressed, and 2a to 3s for farmers' samples, according to quality. Cocksfoot continues in strong request, and stocks are rapidly decreasing. ] We quote 4d to 4|d for machine-dressed, j and 3d to 3id for growers' samples. j Beans and Peas remain at recent quota- ; tione, viz., 3s to 3s 3d for the former and 2* 6d to 3s 3d for the latter. ! : Dairy Produce—Butter 6d to Bd, cheese j 3d to 4d. i Quotations f.0.b., sacks extra. j Auction Sale—At our auction on Satur- i day, the weak demand for grain and produce ' was decidedly noticeable, and our local'; buyers .are evidently well supplied at pre- j sent. We, however, disposed of various lines at the following prices:— Wl-eab—Chick wheat 2a 2£d. ' Oats—2s o£d for medium feed. Potatoes—Derwents (seed) 60s.
