A BARQUE ASHORE.

(PBEBS ASSOCIATION TBLEOaAM.) W ANGANUI, May 9. The barque Freetrader, Captain Bowden, from Hobart to Wanganui, with timber for the Wanganui Sash and Door Factory, went ashore on the South Spit at the Heads yesterday. Her position now is about a quarter of a mile from the beach at low water, head on ; but it is thought that when the tide makes she will go broadside on. It is generally understood that the barqne is insured, but the amount is not known. There is a possibility of saving her, yet in consequence of her bad position the prospects are doubtful. She is a wooden vessel of 188 tons, built in 1850, at Hobart, and is owned by her captain.
