SCHOOL COMMITTEES.

An ordinary meeting of the Greendale Committee was held on Friday night. Present —Messrs Adams, C. Rudd, Jarinan, Holland, Wilson, Thompson and MoCrostie. Mr Adams tendered his resignation as Chairman owing to his having been elected to a seat on the Education Board. Mr C. Rudd was elected Chairman. It was resolved that the Committee desire to record it 3 approval of the manner in which Mr Adams has fulfilled his duties as Chairman during the past eight years. Mr Adams stated that a half-holiday had been given on Arbor Day and the children had been taken to the domain and received a practical lesson on arboriculture, a suitable collection of trees beiug planted. Each child also received an oak tree to plant at home. ' The Tai Tap'u Committee met on the Ist inst. All the members present, Mr Herrick in the chair. The Committee, while sympathising with the Arbor Day movement, regretted being unable to take any part this year. The master's report showed along list of absentees, which were accounted for by bad roads and sickness in the majority of cases, but the Chairman was authorised to make enquiries in a few caaes. After passing accounts amounting to £4 3s the meeting adjourned. The Kowai Pass Committee met on the 4th. inst. Present — Messrs Davey, McUraith, Eain, Campbell, and Barker (Chairman). ; The master's report showed the number on roll 103. The Committee decided not to let the school for entertainments in the future unless they got the rent in advance, as one or two people who had had the use of it had forgotten to pay before leaving. The Chairman reported that Mrs Ryan, the school mistress, had.been absent for a week owing to an accident whilst driving. Accounts to the amount of SX l4s were passed for payment, and the meeting adjourned. .
