THE NELSON JUBILEE.
TO THB EDITOB OF THI PRESS. Sib,—No doubt your readers are aware that the Jubilee of Nelson is to be celebrated during the week commencing February let next. There are a large number of people in Christchurch who are desirous of attending the festivities, and I would suggest to the manager of the Union Steamship Company that in order to accommodate intending visitors, an excursion steamer should be laid on direct from Lyttelton to Nelson. If the steamer left on Saturday, she would arrive in Nelson on Sunday, and thus enable visitors to attend the celebrations on the following day. There are many old Nelson residents in Christchurch •who would gladly avail themselves of the opportunity to be present. There are also, I am told, about forty boating men who are anxious to take part in the Championship Regatta, and such a steamer would be most convenient for them. I understand that the Jubilee Committee have been advised that return tickets at single rates will be issued from Blenheim, Wellington, New Plymouth, Westport and Greymouth, but for some extraordinary reason no mention has been made of Lyttelton. Hoping, sir, to see an excursion Bteamer advertised shortly. —I am, &c,
Old Resident.
