ARRIVAL OF THE SHIP STAR OF FRANCE.

Wilson, arrived from Calcutta yesterday after a passage of ,fifty-»evan days. 6he was signalled and the tug took the pilot down toher shortly after poop aqd she was brought in ana moored afc the Gladstone Pier about 4.30 p r ro. Capt-aip Wilson reports having left Calcutta on November leth passins Bind Head two days later. Had fair wind?* flown the bay with dirty weather from Ideg south. From November Biet to December 10th a succession of light winds and calms were experienced, during Which the vessel only made some 270 SHes. The trades were poor and light. d December 21st in 35 S. 79 E. $|)e westerlies were fallen in with and for eighteen days fair progress was made, the wind being very light and the •hip never doing more than 10 knots. The 'Snares were abeam on January Bth, and toqrdavs were spent beating up the coast with northerly winds. Captain Wilson lias with him Mr UUyett as chief officer, Mr Carney as second, and his son (Mr J. Wilson.} as third. She carries a crew ol titfrtv hands all told. Captain Wilson trings h|* r*aliy fine boat into port in splendid condition, and she was greatly admired by a large number of people, who from the steamer Mararoa and the wharves watched the operation of berthing her. She brings a full load of corn sacks, and is consigned to Mr O. W. Turner, her outward agents being the Mew Zealand Shipping Company,
