[per press association.] Received February 4th. 10.30 a.m. London, February 3. Money is advancing owing to the continued withdrawal of gold for export. Three months' bills 2£ per cent. Received February ,4th, 7.30 p.m. London, February 3. At the wool sales there is keen competition. - The prices remain firm. Silver has risen to 46f d per ounce. .Melbourne,, February 4. The Wool market is buoyant. Prices range from par to a farthing higher than the sales of a fortnight ago. Good combing merinos, greasy, brought up to 1 Of d, do washed fleeces up to Is 2£d, greasy crossbreds 8d to 9|d, scoured crossbreds 1 Old to ls-O^d.
The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, have received the following cable message, dated London, 3rd February, 1891 :—
Wool—The sales progress firmly. Since close of last sales superior greasy merino has advanced nearly £d per lbj fine greasy crossbred, £d per lb ; fine scoured crossbred, |d to Id per lb; coarse crossbred, per lb. Other descriptions unchanged. Up to date 77,000 bales have been sold.
Wheat—Market is dull. New Zealand wheatyf.a.q., to arrive iron ship is worth, c.i.f, 37s per 4801b, JanuaryFebruary bills of lading. Other quotations are unchanged.
