AUCKLAND WHARFAGE CHARGES.

(PKBSS ASSOCIATION TK&EaBAJC.)

AUCKLAND, February 4. A deputation of flour importers and others waited on the Harbor Board and protested against the increase in whartaire charges for flour, bran, aud chaff. They pointed out thac the extra duty on flour was mosc oppressive and fell on a few importers. They considered that the tax should be uniform, and that if the races for tiour were raised the rates for all similar goods should also be increased. Eventually the consideration of the matter was deferred for a fortnight, whea, owing to the election for three seats, & change will have taken place in tbe personnel of the B~>ard.

The Harbor Board have agreed to remit for one year the inward, wharfage charges on sheep brought here for freezing and export purposes.
