ALLEGED EMBEZZLEMENT.
[press association telegram.] AUCKLAND, January a Mark RawKngs, a well known citizen, and a member of the Diocesan Synod, and hitherto highly respected, has been arrested for embez-luu £226, the funds of the Parnell Orphan Home, of whioh he was Hon. Treasurer. He waa arrested at his residence, but was too ill to be removed to tbe station. The audit reveals that _1300 are imaocounted for. The accused is a member of the firm of Baber aad Bawlings, printers' furnishers. Bowlings has been remanded for a week.
