LOYAL ORANGE INSTITUTION.
The annual meeting of the Loyal Orange Grand Lodge of the Middle Island of; New Zealand was held at limaru on Friday and Saturday last, December 26th und 27ch. The meeting was held in the Oddfellows Hall, and was opened by the Right Worshipful Grand Master at & p.m. on Friday. The following officers were present .--Rev. J. U. W. Ellis, K.W.G.M.; Messrs R. N. Adams, Deputy Grand Master; 12. Revill, Grand Secretary; H. McClelland, Grand Treasurer; D.Christie, Grand 'Auditor; several Past-Grand officers and about sixty representatives from the several districts and Lodges. After the opening ceremonies and the confirmation of the minutes of the previous year's sessions, the Grand Master delivered an able and spirited address, reviewing the work done by the Institution during his year of office. The Grand _ Lodge, by a unanimous vote, resolved to record on Its minutes a hearty vote of thanks to.the Grand Master for his address, and requested its publication in the annual report and also iv the newspapers. The presiding officer acknowledged the vote in suitable terms. . , The cash accounts were presented by the Grand Secretary and Grand Treasurer and dealt vvitb. A large amount of correspondence touching many matters of interest to the institution was read and disposed of. 'The proposed amendments to the rules and regulations, of which due notice had been given, gave rise to many discussions. Some of the more important questions were keenly debated in a very able manner; but the feeling of the members generally appeared to be against a frequent alteration of the rules, for most of the proposals were negatived. Some matters of importance were, however, adopted after a vigorous discussion. ■ " ' < Votes of thanks were accorded to the ; retiring officers, and suitably' acknowledged.- r - V- - '. .-■ ■■ ' •-,;•■ .•■ The following officers were elected for the ensuing year:—Grand Master, Bro. R. N. Adams (Dunedin); Deputy Grand Master, Brp. J. T. Smith (Chrlacchurch); Grand Secretary, Bro. Revell (Kuiapoi); Assistant Grand Secretary, Bro. O. T. Par&ons (Sydenham); Grand Treasurer, Bro. H. McClelland (Courtenay); Assistant Grand Treasurer, Bra. Dysart (Courtenuy); Grand Chaplains, Revs. H. B. Gingery G. Bond, A. Peters, J. A. Luxford, J. Sharp, and T. G. Dyson. Bro. Ginger was appointed Senior Grand Chaplain. Committee, Bros. Carrick (Duuedin>, Tolterton (St. Albans), Kennedy (Gore), lrwin (Timaru), Thompson (Belfast/; auditors, Bros. Bleach and Willis (Christchurch); Past Grand Master, G. W. Ellis (Kiraberley). it was decided to hold the next annual Grand. Lodge meeting at Suuthbrldge. A very successful tea and concert was held in the lodge hall belonging to the Oddfellows on baturday evening, presided over by the Grand Master, A church parade was held on Sunday afternoon, when a large number, of the brethren assembled at the Presbyterian Churchi and an appropriate sertice was conducted by the Rev. Mr Todd of Geraldine. ;
