TEE DIFF-RENT QUALITIES. The manufactures of the Company are j divided into two'groups, viz., the Uubau or cigars manufactured as iv Havannah, \ and the Phillipine, or what we know as the Manila. '__ese, again, are sub-divided into different qualities. Of the former forty different brands are produced at the factory, and they range from the maguificent" incomparable glistening in silver; foil, a cigar to linger lovingly over, and the recollection of which is something to dwell upon, to the daluty little "Princesas " and " Coquetas. In speaking ! of this latter, Mr Macfarlane dispels' the popular idea that all ladies smo_e iv _p_la, whioh, he says, is not the case. Another notable cigar iv his group is the " lmperialea," also ail ver folleu, making a brava-how. A novelty is the " «Julebra," or smoke cigar, formed by three cigars plaited together. The ''.Bouquet is made for the American market, and is a very sharp pointed cigar, of high quality, with light weight. The Phillipine qualities, comprising the second group, are of twenty different shapes, siaes aud qualities, but there are only two distinguishing points, viz., one cigar shape, or pointed at one end, and the other out* at both ends. This latter .is called Castado, which in Spanish means cut at both ends. These are from the largest to the smallest sise, the latter being respectively called Sencxitasi Duchessaa and Confesses. Mr Macfarlane explained that the weight varies from 141b to 181b per 1000, according to the country. In India and countries where there is practically no duty they take a heavier cigar. Java is the greatest cheroot smoking country* in the world, as maybe gathered from: the fact that .during Mr Macfarlaue's visit there he sold, three millions and a half of cigars, of which two millions were cheroots.
