An old man named Taylor has been atrociously murdered near VYagga. His head was found, but there was no trace of the body. The .murderer had apparently carried the head about for several days. A man named Smith was arrested on the charge of committing the murder, THE FLOODS. Brisbane, April 12* The amount collected in aid of the sufferers by the late floods has reached £4300. . THE QUETTA. . As the result of the enquiry into the wreck of the Quetfca, the Marine Board ha 3 formally notified the Board of <Trade that they consider the pilot ana officers of the vessel exonerated from all blame. ACTION FOR LIBEL. Melbourne, April 12. A cross action has been'commenced in the Supreme Court, Mr Horsfall having issued a writ against Andrew Rowanj claiming £30,000 damages for alleged libel and slander. The case arose out of a dispute with the Directors of Qoldsborough, Mort and Co. in January last. Kowan served a writ on Horsfall, claiming £25,000 damages for libel arising out of the same matter.
