LINCOLN COLLEGE.

TO THS EDITOR OF THE PRESS. Sir,—Kindly allow mc just a few words to put myself right with Mrlvey. From the tone of his letter I fancy he thinks mc __... _ c ? breaking out afresh, but _.-_!. n !?• * h ave never written on the Lincoln College before Now for the explanations given for the non-success of the Institution-Provincial jealousies and the interference of political and educational empirics in the administration of the endowments. It is to be hoped that pressure will be brought to bear on the powers that be to carry out the views of the Royal Commissioners without delay; views which I am glad to see Mr Iyey held years ago, and which, if his advice had been-taken, would have made the College what I wish to see it. Il is satisfactory to know what Is to blame for the present state of things. Mr Ivey would have allowed farmer? sons to betaken at nominal fees, and more experimental work carried on : so would I. I am still of opinion, however, that the average farmers sons would find the sciences enumerated in the curriculum far above them, for most of them leave school after passing the Fourth Standard of our public schools. By better classes, I mean the more Intelligent people, and I think Mr Ivev will agree with mc, that such only will succeed In gaining his certificate. In conclusion, I may say that I am well pleased at having "drawn" from the worthy Director the explanations given in his last letter.—Yours, &c, Euiupidhs.
