THE LIEDERTAFEL SOCIAL.
Oα Saturday evening the member? of this Society gave one of those social gatherings in connection with the Liedertafel at which, in addition to the charms of excellent music and goodfellowship, the presence. of ladies added the crowning glory. Aβ hosts to the sterner sex the genial President and his merry men are renowned but when they play the same part to the ladies, then, WTiße- air Americanism, "They take the cake." Every ingenious device that can be contrived, not only by the faultless execution of a programme full of gems.but by thoughtful provision for the comfort and convenience of their guests, is put in force on these occasions, and Saturday evening was no exception to the rule. The room was very prettily decorated, the end near the stage being carpeted and laid out like a drawing room, with a perfect conservatory of ferns and flowere on the stage itself. We regret that very great pressure on our space prevents us from going into details regarding the items in the programme. Suffice it to say that the various numbers were artistically performed and thoroughly appreciated.. Altogether the Liedertafel are to be congratulated on a musical success of a very high order.
