WAIPARA.

The monthly meetirg of the Waipara Boadßoud was held at the office, Walkari, on Tuesday, February 9th Present —-Messrs T. Sanderson, W. Parkerson, and J. Little. In the absence of Mr J. D. Lance, Mr Sanderson was choßen Chairman. The following correspondence was read — From the Property Tax Commiiaioner, Wellington, forwarding the amount of rateable laud the Government waa assessed at for the year 1885-86; on receipt of tho resolution passed by the Board the rate would be forwarded. From the County Clerk, W-ixarapa, enclosing memorandum : regarding lozal government finance, asking if the members of the Board were willing to co-operate to give effect to tho proposals \ Bet forth. From the Registrar Canterbury College, with respect to' the application for a road through reI serve 1149, Baying that compensation mus. be paid to the tenant, a fenoe erected on each side of the road, and that the College must be reimbursed at the rate of JEB per acre. From Messrs Harper and Co., forwarding the amount from the Board due to Messrs Acland and Barns for the section in which the pound yards were now situated. From the Traffic Manager in Christohurcb, in reply to a letter sent by the Chairman in regard to the haulage of gravel for a short distance on the line, saying he had not any power to make any alteration in the charges. From Mr F. H. Y. Dicken, informing the Board that he had erected a gate where instructed by them, and trusted tho gate complaints in his district would cease. From Mr W. H. Burton, stating that the gate complained of had been removed, and wishing to know if he might be allowed to remove some fencing material on the road, the property of the Board. From Messrs Corlett Bros.*, intimating that if a wooden culvert was placed where I they thought the ford was to be put in, it would be-an improvement. From Mr H. Perrott, requesting an alteration in the Horsley Dawn .Pass road. From J. McClelland, applying for an extension cf time for his Geerdhu road contract. A teleI gram was read from the Colonial Treasury, Wellington, with the information that the Government subsidy had been paid. The culvert alluded to by Mossrs Corlett was in the specification, and was to be put in. Mr Perrott's letter was considered, and Mr Parkerson requested to look at it, attended by the Surveyor. Mr McClelland's requested extension of time was granted. The tenders were opened, and Mr J. B. Hunter's tender for the Pyramid Valley road and pound shed were .loth accepted. The Surveyor's report j was read, and he was instructed to see that the land on the northern side of the On—hi bridge was the Board's property, and also to examine the Stonyhurst road before payment was made. The Clerk I was informed that he must issue summonses for the unpaid rates without idelay. The accounts were then passed. j Payments -3116 3. 7d, receipts £01 ii Bd. [ The Board then adjourned.
