GRAIN AND PRODUCE.
The past week, has been a very busy one in the country districts, farmers using the utmost exertions to get their crops cut, ithe nor'-wester Of Sunday last.uaving thoroughly alarmed- them, after, their too lively recollection of the visitation twelve months ago. In town but little business haa been done, as farmers only leave their harvest fields when forced to do so in quest of binding twine. A few unimportant sales of new wheat have taken place at from 3s 4d to 3s 6d, f.0.b., according to description. Flour is nominally .£lO, pending the mil— commencing operations on new wheats. Oats are offering at 2s, but buyers seem to be doubtful about operating extensively, as there appears to be an impression that ower prices will obtain later on. In barley we have not heard of any business of moment. Buyers offer 3s to 3s 3d for rye grass seed, and 3d to 3£d for cocksfoot. Butter is somewhat weaker consequent upon the decline of that article in Australian markets. Cheese still moves off at 6d to 6£d. Hams and bacon sell fairly in trade parcels at 8d per lb.
