IN consequence of the largo increase in the business of the Company, and with a view of further extending their operations, the Directors have resolved to provide additional capital by the issue of further Shares. The Directors are inflnenced in this determination by (amongst others) the following reasons, vis, :— L The necessity of large additions to tho buildings on the premises of the Com* pany, to keep pace with the business, which has increased beyond their expectations. 11. The provision of sufficient capital to adequately carry on the Malting business, about to be taken over by the Company, whioh has for many years been so profitably worked by Mr Thomas Edwards. 111. To give increased accommodation to trade connections, hotel keepers, and others, with a view to providing an outlet for the prodnotß of the Company. The high character which- tbe products of the Company have acquire- in the trade and elsewhere is well known and appreciated, and_ is shown more p_>tioularly by tho large increase of tbe free traCe in competition with breweries of old standing. The Directors may state that they have aecured the services of their present brewer for a term of years. The directors would draw the attention of those interested in the trade to the f aot that in connection with the introduction of fresh capital the business may be made far more permanently profitable by including in the proprietary' a number of hotelk-epers and the general public, all of whom wilt have an interest in promoting directly and indirectly the prosperity of the concern. The property of the Company oonaista of the Brewery Premises (freehold), comprising upward, of three-quarters of an acre (situate on the South Town Belt at the corner of Windmill road, with a long frontage on the Belt and adjoining Railway reßerve) on whioh are erected Brewery, Two Cellars, Malt House, Offices, Dwelling-house, Bottling Stores, Stables, Ac, together with the Plant (whioh is quite new, in perfect order, and capable of producing 4000 hhds per annum), Stock-in-Trade, and tbe goodwill and trade nune of the Company in all valued at -812,000, besides bcok debts, mortgages on hotel properties, Ac., Ac, As some guide to the amountof business transacted by the Company it may be stated that there are now en the books the names of 1100 customers at leist, many of whom draw no other ale or porter. Thb trade of the Company during the laat twelve months has doubled itself, being now equal to 1600 hhds- per annum, and it is confidently anticipated that with the aid of further capital the business will continue to largely increase, and inasmuch as the working expenses would be abont the same with double tbe present trade, the desirability of additional capital can be easily seen. The profits from the muting boßine.B will -lso be considerable. The malthouse is capable of turning ont 12,C00 bushels a year. The present capital of the Company stands as follows:-- „„- ---60 Bhares fully paid up ... £600 510 shares paid up to £7 eaoh 8780 600 .£4380 In order to give increased stability to the Company, the holders of shares partly paid up have arranged to surrender their 540 Bhares, standing at £7 paid-up, in exchange for 1260 shares paid-up to £3 eaoh, which gives them only an equivalent amount of paid-up capital with the additional advantage to the Company of a largely increased liability of the present shareholders for uncalled capital, thus Bhowing their thorough confidence in the profitable nature of tbeboainess. The number of shares now being issued is 3880, whioh will stand on an equal footing with the present Bhares. The amounts payable on the new issue will be as follows—via., £1 on application, £\ on allotment, £1 at three months from date of allotment. Beyond this amount of £3 per share no further call ia at present anticipated, as the capital thus raised wBl place the company in a position to avail itself of additional and steady business as eligible opportunities arise. The capital will then stand as follows :— £ 60 Shares, fully paid np 600 1260 Shares, old issue, paid up to £3 8780 3680 Sbarea, new issue, paid up to £3 11,040 5000 £15,420 If- no allotment be made, the deposit will be returned without deduction; and if a less number bs allotted than applied for, the surplus portion of the deposit will go in reduction of the amount to be paid on allotment. If farther or more detailed information be required, apply to the MANAGBR. at the Office of the Company, South Town Belt, Chriatchurch; or to the Broker of the Company, from whom copies of the prospectus can be obtained. APPLICATIONS FOB BHAREB will be received up to MONDAT, the 27th February. 1882, on which day the SHARE MgT will CLOSE. ? - 21 6?17
