"The principle upon which these machines are constructed may be adapted for dressing almost aay fibre. In addition to the Phormium Tenax, for the dressing of which these machines are perfect, they have also been successfully ueed for dressing the Banana and Pine Apple fibres. These machines may also be easily adapted for scrapiog jute, and any person baying the opportunity ot introducing these machines into India or other tropical climates, could realise a large fortune by the sale of the machines and the royalty imposed for their use. The export of jute from India now averages a thousand tons per day, the whole of which is prepared by hand. One of these machines could prodnce more fibre per day than could be produced by the hand labor of fifty men. Samples of the fhx dressed at Mr Compton'a mill may be seen at the Auctioneers.
