The "Post" semi-offioiallystates that the result of the applications for the deferred payment lands at the Waimate Plains, which were opened yesterday, is highly satisfactory. Out of a total of thirty-nine sections opened, twenty-eight have been applied for, leaving only eleven available for application. These now can be applied for upon any day at either Oarlyle or Hawera. Eighteen of the sections will have to be submitted to auction, there being more than one applicant for each of them. The highest number of applicants for one section was nine, and the total number of applications received was eighty-two. The auotion sale of the deferred payments applications will take place at Hawera on the 28th inst. This sale will be confined to the applicants who have already sent in their applications, but tha public auction of the remainder of the lands advertised will be held at Hawera on the following day. Akaiawa village settlement will be offered for applications, partly on cash and partly on deferred payment, at Oarlyle and Hawera on the Ist prox. It is also proposed to dispose of a portion of the Opunake township shortly, township lands for cash, suburban lands for cash, and suburban village settlement land upon deferred payments. Applications for the last-named description of lands will be received at Oarlyle and Hawera on Thursday, the 2nd of December next, and the remainder of the lands to be sold in the township will be plaoed in the market as soon as the necessary arrangements can be made.
