LYTTELTON.
Monday, August 19. [Before Dr. Donald, R.M.] Drunkenness.—Richard Roberts was fined 20s for the above offence. Absent Without Leatb.—Robt. Bailey, a seaman, was charged by Captain Berry, of the Australian Sovereign, with this offence, and sentenced to forty-eight hours' imprisonment with hard labour. Tuesday, August 20. [Before W. Donald, Esq., R.M.] Chimnby on Fisb. -Patrick Kellehar, for having his chimney on fire in Donald street, was fined 10a and coste, 4s. Bebach op the Peace.—Wm. Kelly wan accused of this offence. Constable Kenny stated he saw accused strike another man in the face on the wharf on Ausuet 14th. Therr wtre a number of people present. Joseph Woleely depoeed that Kelly struck him in the face on the day in question. The quarrel arose with regard to procurirg laborers to work steamers. Accused was fined 40s and 7s 6d costs, a fortnight being granted for him to pay the flue in.
