LAND SALES.

Messrs H. Matson and Co. held yesterday a moat successful land sale. The land put op comprised the Linwood Estate, the property of P. H. Britten, Esq., which had been subdivided into 22+ sections. The total number of sections, therefore, was 231, and of these 230 were ■old, the odd one being set aside a> a reserve. The area sold was 58 acres, which realised an average price of £318 15s 6d per acre, or a total of £l«, 480 10s. Of this amount £1120 was for the land not, strictly spetki&g, belonging to the Linwood Estate, lea-ring as the net price of this £17,369 10s. It is worth of remark that Mr Brittan some time ago offered to sell the estate, for the purpose of its being converted into a public park, for £10,000.
