"Little River Road Board,
"6th March, 1874. " Sjb,—" Road and railway reserve through the flat at Little River," I "am requested by the Board to acknowledge your letter of the 27th ult, and to say that you will find the timber asked for by the Board is on the road and railway reserve, not any tramway reserve. The Board are aware that as the line is two chains wide, one of right belongs to them, and they are.of opinion that what the millowners have left of the other chain should be placed under their control, or it will share the same fate of the 120 chains already gone. " The Board are also aware that by an Ordinance passed in 1866, White's tramway was allowed to follow the above reserve on certain conditions; time was the essence however, and how this has been kept you can find on reference. " The conduct of the Government in this matter appears to the Board anomalous. " Your obedient servant, " A. D. Allan, " Chairman. " The Secretary Public Works." The Board then adjourned.
