The ratepayers present expressed themselves very satisfied with the work of the BoaKhvith one dissentient, who complained that a certain contract had not been very creditably carried out in Little Akaloa during the past year. The Chairman explained the difficulty the Board had had to contend with hitherto, in the district being so large and divided, and that the fault lay with a member of the Board who represented that part of the district, but who had since resigned, and stated that the Board intended to exercise a greater supervision over works for the future that the fault might not be repeated. _ The ratepayers then proceeded to the elec.tion of two members in the room of Messrs Boleyn and Barker (retired) by ballot. Mr John Barker was proposed by Mr , 'Wright and seconded by Mr Priest. Mr Priest was proposed by Mr Ware and Seconded by Mr Moore. Mr Robert Rix was proposed by Mr Eades and seconded by Mr Joseph Brown. The names of the candidates were put to show of hands, and the following was the Jesuit:— • • -'
