The University social gathering was attended by over 900 people. Judge Chapman and Professor Sale were the principal speakers. The latter strongly advocated the admission of female students. The evening-classes are highly successful. Nearly sixty are attending and have already entered. There "was a keen .competition, at the Knox Church for the University scholarships. Ferguson, of Tokomariro, was the gainer.
