POST-OFFICE NOTICE.

Clanricarde—Mails will close at 2.45 p.m every Saturday. Mails for Addington will in future close at the Chief Post-office, Christchurch, at 10.3( a.m. every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday and for St. Albans at 9.15 a.m. on the sam< day. On and after this date the South roac mails will close at the Chief Post-office Christchurch, at 6 p.m. every Monday, Wed nesday, and Friday, instead ol 5 p.m. a: heretofore. On and after January 1, 1867, late letten for Hokitika and Greymouth, by payment oi an extra sixpenny stamp upon each letter can be posted at the Chief Post-office, Christchurch, till 10 p.m. every Monday and Thursday ; and for Timaru, till 10 p.m. every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. On and after the Ist January, the Oxford and Moeraki Downs mailß will close at Christchurch at 8 a.m. every Tuesday and Friday, instead of Monday, Wednesday, and Friday ; and for Hurunui at 8 a.m. every Monday, instead of Mondays and Wednesdays, as heretofore.

In consequence of newspapers being frequently posted in packages of more than one number, the same are detained at the Chief Post-office, andattention is called to the following postal regulation: — "Newspapers for transmission within the colony shall be posted in single numbers, so put up that the date of publication may be readily seen. Packages of newspapers consisting of more than one number, shall be treated as book packets." Chief Post-office, F. E. Weight, Chief Postmaster.
