Kaiapoi.—On Monday Aug. 12th a meeting was held in the parish church, the Eev. W. "Willock iv the chair. The chairman read the following letter from the Yen. Archdeacon Mathias to the Churchwardens of Kaiapoi. " Christchureh, July 12th, 1861. " Dear Sies, —Pinding there still exists a difference of opinion amongst the parties more particularly interested with regard to the Church Building question at Kaiapoi, I venture to suggest that, a due time (say one month) being given for the registration of Church members, a meeting should then be called of the registered Church members only, and the following propositions submittsd to it: — 1st —Is it desirable to have two Churches at Kaiapoi, or one in a central position as may be decided on ? 2nd—The places to be named where the site or sites is to be erected. It should be understood that the decision of the majority is to he final. I am authorised to say that the Bishop is not averse to this plan, and I am sure you will agree with mc, that some steps should be taken with the smallest possible delay, to provide more Church accommodation in your district, and I doubt not, but that this question being finally settled, union and concord will once again be established among churchmen at Kaiapoi. I remain, Gentlemen, Your very faithful servant, Oct. Mathias,, Archdeacon.

Mr. W. Eevell wished to know what funds were still in hand. Mr. "Wylde said there was a balance of £320 out of £600. The principal part of the money spent had been laid out on the existing building. Mr. Blakiston proposed " that there shall be one central church in Kaiapoi." Seconded by Mr. Wylde. Dr. Dudley wished to have a definition of "central." After some discussion, the motion was withdrawn. Mr. Wylde moved that" before a proposed site be considered, the proposer thereof shall pledge himself that the site is available." Mr. Fulleb seconded the motion, which was carried. Mr. Dobes stated that Mr. Ehodes wmdd give an acre of land, if the inhabitants of Kaiapoi would accept it. The Chairman on behalf of this meeting thanked Mr. Rhodes for his kind offer; the meeting however thought that a more central position might be obtained. After some discussion, it was agreed to endeavour to purchase a site from the College. A vote of thanks to the Chairman was passed and the meeting dissolved.
