Antique Day Held At Galatea

The antique day arranged at Galatea last Saturday proved very interesting, quite a large number of articles being displayed. A gun used in Hone Heke’s times was one of the items. Jewellery, ornaments, clothing and handwork were all represented. ' A successful bring and buy stall was held and brought in £25. Most of this money is to go towards a drill area for the children at school. Helen Caie won a box of chocolates and Mrs Gear a tray cloth. A basketball match between W.I. and W.D. proved interesting and despite the heat, the players were enthusiastic. The game ended W.I. 6 W.D. 5. Miss White was the referee. 4
