Indoor Bowling
NOT SUCCESSFUL The Legion of Frontiersmen indoor bowling team, C. R. Coates (skip), W. Simons, W. Tyssen and E. Hunt were not successful in their challenge for the St John Challenge Shield played in the St John Hall on Wednesday. The holders of the shield, E. Ramson' (skip), H. L. Drube, A. W. Mclntosh and G. Ramson defeating them with a score of 8/5, 10/5, 8/6. The next challenge for the shield will be that of 'the Awakeri Indoor Bowling Club to be played next Wednesday. ST JOHN CHAMPION The St John indoor bowling singles championships, which have been in progress for some weeks, were won on -Wednesday night by H. L. Drube who defeated E. R. Ramson 5/3 in a closely-contested match.
BRING-A-TROPHY SHOOT Tomorrow the Taneatua Defence Rifle Club plan to hold a novelty “bring a trophy, shoot” as one of the attractions at the official opening of their second season. Formed early last year, the club has a large membership and this season should provide keen competition with other clubs of its type in the district.
INTER-CLUB SINGLES
A. Y atson defeated M. Hamill to win the inter-club singles competition played at the Whakatane Table Tennis Club night in the Winter Show Buildings on Wednesday.
