BRING COMFORT
Sir, —The article from Knox Church in Monday’s Beacon entitled “Saved to Serve” set me thinking how true it is that David’s Psalms bring comfort and reassurance to many people today. Not only at Life’s Passing, but at times of great danger or disaster do we take comfort from the words “Yea though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil for Thou art with me.” x
Whilst reading, memories flooded over me of a blitz night at Home, when every moment seemed being our last. Suddenly those same words seared themselves on my mind and instantly a calm and peace pervaded my whole being. It> was ah experience I shall never forget. Now, complacently living a life of comparative safety in a land of plenty, I realise the Minister’s words are true—that, having been saved one should serve with gratitude and devotion. But it is with a sense of unworthiness that one realises how far short of that ideal we most of us fall. Yours etc., A READER. Whakatane, September 5.
