Penicillin For Cattle From Dairy Factories

To make penicillin more readily available to farmers for the treatment of mastitis in cattle, regulations are to be gazetted permitting dairy factories to supply penicillin preparations. This decision is recorded by the National Dairy Conference in its annual report. The report" says that distribution of penicillin for mastitis has presented difficulties in the past ‘ because it is invariably required at short notice and it is not always possible to locate a veterinarian.

It is felt that a most convenient point of distribution would be the dairy factory, says the report, but hitherto this channel could not be used because of restrictions imposed by the health regulations. Representations were made to the Minister of Health, and amendments to the regulations are about tc be made.
