Many Breeders At Pedigree Jersey Dispersal Sale
A representative attendance of Jersey breeders and dairy farmers from all parts of the Bay of Plenty were present at the successful dispersal sale of pedigree Jersey cattle from Mr W. E. Riddell’s stud at Rangiuru, and conducted by the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co. Ltd.
Bidding was brisk at times and most consistent right till the end of the sale. A total clearance was effected of the seventy head offered at an average price of 34 guineas. The rising 5-year-old bull, Rataha Cavalier, was sold to Mr V. Munro for 77 h guineas. The highest priced cows were Thornlea Maggie at 75gns, Thornlea Jolly 70gns, Thornlea Margaret 622gns, and Thornlea Jubilant 60 gns. Top price for two-year heifers was realised by Thornlea Nightingale at 42£gns. The other two-year heifers made from 222-gnS’ to 40gns.
