New Presbyterian Youth Director

The Rev Walter M. f Hendrie, M.A., recently-appointed youth director of the Presbyterian Church of New Zealand, was born in Glasgow and received his education in that city, at High School, University and Theological Hall.

He was student assistant for four years in Govan Old Parish Church under Dr George MacLeod, Bart. After he was licensed in 1940 he became Warden of Overnewton Churches’ Club in Glasgow’s wartime dockland. In 1943 he was appointed by the Church of Scotland’s Youth Committee as Club Organiser and travelled through Scotland. For the last four years he has been minister of Inverbervie Parish Church. He is married and has two small children. Mr Hendrie now succeeds the Rev J. D. Salmond as Youth Director of the Presbyterian Church of New Zealand who was recently appointed Director ,of Religious Education for the Presbyterian Church.
