Features Of The International Red Cross Conference
Some idea of the work and all that was done at the international conference of the Red Cross Society, held at Stockholm, was told to the Beacon by Mrs A. W. Winstone, Whakatane, who attended the executive meeting of the New Zealand Red Cross at Wellington last week, where she heard an address by two New Zealand delegates Mrs G. Hennessey and Miss H. Iris Crooke, Commandant N.Z.R.C. and V.A.D. Both delegates referred to the difficulties encountered at such a conference. One of the problems was to get through all the work in the set time. To do this a number of commissions were formed to discuss and brjng down findings on various subjects to the Plenary sittings. A very large amount of work had been accomplished in this manner. All the discussions were translated to English and French. Mrs Hennessey said that one of the notable features at the conference was to see men and women of all nations, some recently at war sitting side by side, all working for the same ideal.
