Bad Weather Mars Galatea Picnic

Bad weather marred the annual picnic of the Galatea school last Wednesday to such an extent that the proposed trip to the Horomanga Stream had to be abandoned and the picnic held in the school grounds instead. However, the weather cleared by mid-morning and kept fine for the remainder of the day. Although near the school the picnic was a great success, sack races and other athletic events being popular. There were races for the married men and women, ice cream and soft drinks and at the end of the day the presents were distributed. Results:—

Men’s race: L. Nicholls 1, M. Caie 2. Women’s race: Mrs J. Bridgeman 1.
