Tail Of Fish Factor In Fishy Tale
A resident of Faremata, Mr W. Pycroft, using a sailing dinghy as a landing net, caught a 17 schnapper with his bare hands recently. Sailing on Paremata Harbour they sighted the schnapper feeding on a bank of cockles. Mr Pycroft leaned over the side of the boat, while his brother-in-law sailed it quietly up to the schnapper. Reaching down, Mr Pycroft grabbed the fish by both hands round its tail. It struggled furiously. His brother-in-law left the tiller and came to the leeward side to help. The extra weight added to the pull of the struggling fish, proved too much for the boat, which turned on her side, spilling the fish and the fishermen into waist-deep water. Still hanging on grimly to his prize, Mr Pycroft managed to get the fish into the swamped boat. His brother-in-law rignted her, and they baled her out, and brought home their catch.
