' CENTRAL DEFEATS TANEATUA During the week-end Central played Taneatua on the Taneatita ground, and a very interesting game resulted. Taneatua winning the. toss? sent Central in to bat. The opening pair gave their side a good start, which was carried on by Scott and Hewitt in another good partnership. The innings closed, at 12 o'clock with the score at 130. During the half hour before lunch Taneatua lost one wicket for 35. Carrying on after lunch the side took the score to 99, Cleland contributing an excellent 39. Central batting again knocked up 59 in quick time, then declared leaving Taneatua half an hour in which to make the required 99 runs. However, when time was called the score stood at ;>/ for the loss of six wickets.
