RELEASE AGREEMENT NOT COMPLIED WITH
RIGHT OF INSPECTION OF CONDITIONS .
The United Kingdom, France r the United States have sent n notes to Russia repeating their < mand that all German prisoners war should be released. The Brit' note, which was handed to 1 Soviet Government yesterday, st the Russians had promised six tin - '" to repatriate all prisoners by t' end of 1948, but, in fact, the numb repatriated from Russia last De ember totalled just over 10,000 little more than half the previof monthly average—and in Januai, it dropped to only 2,000. The government proposed that ; agreed international body shou' inspect the living conditions ' German volunteer workers in tl United Kingdom and the Midd East, provided this body was als allowed free access to the Sovie Union to carry out similar inspe< tions of German prisoners of wai there.
