500 ATHLETES FOR AUCKLAND

CONTESTANTS IN EMPIRE GAMES GOOD REPRESENTATION OF ' ALL COUNTRIES (P.A.) Wellington, March 16. About 500 athletes of all descriptions are likely to assemble at Auckland early next year for the British Empire Games. Quoting the approximate representations expected from each of the participating countries, the secretary of the New Zealand Olympic and Empire Games Association, Mr H. Amos, said at tonight's annual meeting of the association that about 100 competitors were expected from England, between 60 and 70 from Canada, 50 from South Africa and Rhodesia, 150 to 200 from Australia, and about 100 New Zealanders.
