COMPTON HEADS BATTING AVERAGES London, March 15. At Capetown today the M.C.C. Avon the last match of their South African tour, when they beat a combined Universities eleven by an innings and 52 runs. The scores: M.C.C. 477; Combined Universities 274 and 151. The M.C.C. team has therefore gone through the tour without a defeat, winning eleven and drawing twelve. D. C. Compton is top of the batting averages, having scored eight centuries and his average is nearly 85.
