WORKMEN FIND SKELETON
DISCOVERY IN CHAPEL STREET PERFORATION OF SKULL Recently, when members of the outside staff of the Tanranga Borough Council were removing soil from the southern end of Chapel Street, for work in connection with the council’s transit housing scheme, they unearthed a human skeleton. Their find was made after removing spoil to a depth of about six feet. The skull was in good condition, but on being exposed to the air and handling by the workmen, other portions of the skeleton crumbled. The attention of a medical man was drawn to the discovery and he expressed the opinion that the skeleton was that of a woman. There was a perforation in the skull beside the ear cavity, which bore the appearance of having been caused by a blow with an instrument.
