MORE THAN 3000 DEAD

JAPS. IN ADMIRALTY ISLANDS Further Allied Air Raids

Rabaul, Kavieng and Wewak London, April 16. In the Pacific more than 3000 Japanese dead have heen counted on the Admiralty Islands since the Allied invasion began just over six weeks ago.

The much-bombed Japanese base of Rabaul in New Britain had another 90 tons of bombs showered down on it in the latest raid. Kavieng, in New Ireland, and Wewak, in New Guinea, have also been bombed again and Allied light naval units have shelled Japanese positions on the south-west coast of Bougainville. There were heavy explosions.
